Sanoma has been named one of TIME & Statista World’s Most Sustainable Companies for 2026. The ranking recognises companies globally for their sustainability performance, transparency and public commitments.
“We are happy to be included in the ranking, which is an external recognition of the consistent work carried out across Sanoma to advance our sustainability. Sustainability is embedded in Sanoma's business practices, from reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening transparency to systematically tracking environmental and social performance”, says Kaisa Uurasmaa, Head of Investor Relations and Sustainability.
Sanoma was selected among the 750 highest‑scoring companies globally out off more than 5,000 companies. The four-step assessment process first excluded companies operating in non‑sustainable sectors or appearing on exclusion lists. The remaining companies were then evaluated by assessing public sustainability commitments and external ratings, such as CDP, UN Global Compact, SBTi and MSCI. Sanoma participates annually in the CDP disclosure and is recognised on CDP’s A List, is a signatory and committed to the UN Global Compact principles and has set science-based climate targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Also, the quality and transparency of the companies’ ESG reporting was assessed, including their external assurance and alignment with leading frameworks such as GRI, SASB and TCFD/IFRS‑ISSB. As a fourth step, the process included reviewing the companies’ environmental and social KPIs and performance, including emissions and energy intensity, renewable energy share, waste, and workforce and governance metrics.
