The Sanoma House property has been awarded the BREEAM In-Use Excellent certificate. This internationally respected certificate demonstrates the property’s comprehensive commitment to sustainability. The assessment examines, among other things, the property’s energy efficiency, environmental impacts, accessibility, users’ health and well-being, as well as the property’s management, operation and maintenance.
The recognition also supports Sanoma’s sustainability and environmental targets, as Sanoma is the property’s primary occupier and develops the property together with its owner. The awarded certificate is one concrete example of how Sanoma advances its environmental responsibility in practice.
The company has reduced its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions from its own operations by 59 percent from the 2021 level. At Sanoma House, fossil-free electricity and renewable district heating are used. There are 320 solar panels on the property’s roof, which support the production of renewable energy and cover part of the property’s electricity consumption. In addition, Sanoma has committed to the new cycle of Finland’s Energy Efficiency Agreement for 2026–2035 and continues to improve energy efficiency as part of the property’s long-term development.
Environmental impacts are also reduced through everyday choices. At Sanoma House, emphasis is placed on reducing the amount of waste and on efficient material recycling, and the availability of vegetarian food in the staff restaurant is being increased. Employees are also encouraged to make responsible choices as part of the property’s daily use and environmental efforts.
