The digital services of Helsingin Sanomat (HS) have broken records lately. Already 60 percent of the HS page views come from mobile usage, and there are around 1.5 million mobile readers per week. Last spring HS launched applications for all the most significant operating systems, and renewed its iPad and mobile apps. The HS.fi news and the daily paper are available in all applications. In addition, iPad and Android apps offer digital facsimile editions of Helsingin Sanomat.Two editions a dayLast autumn HS introduced a totally new reading package for the early evening. HS Evening is independent of the morning edition, and it features news stories and articles specifically produced for that edition. HS Evening is available on weekdays from 4:30 pm onwards on Android and iPad tablets.100 e-booksYet another recently launched service for iPad and Android tablets is HS Library. This service provides access to around 100 e-books for a monthly subscription fee of EUR 9.90. HS Library offers fiction and non-fiction: novels, mysteries, popular fiction and children’s books published few years ago. Furthermore, subscribers to the digital edition of Helsingin Sanomat have free access to one editorial pick from the e-book library at a time.New solutions for advertisingFor advertisers HS apps offer highly advanced digital advertising and measuring solutions. Good examples are full-screen ads between articles that have gained excellent results. This ad format functions perfectly in the HS iPad version, and can now be purchased at the same time for all HS tablet and smartphone apps.
