The innovation programme is called “co-create for impact” and is meant to accelerate the process of developing new products to improve learning outcomes, teacher efficiency and pupil engagement. Applications are being accepted now.Teachers, headmasters, students, academics and Sanoma employees are invited to apply. There are no restrictions, although the idea must be deemed by evaluators to be realistic and viable, and have the potential to make a positive impact on education. Participation is free; Sanoma pays for all the expenses.“Our goal is to generate ideas for products and services that have an impact on education and to provide the tools to develop those ideas,” says John Martin, CEO of Sanoma Learning.Candidates must apply for the Sanoma Learning Lab and provide an overview of their idea and the market opportunity. Approximately 50 aspiring ideas will be selected for the 2014 programme that starts with a live kick-off and is then held mostly through webinars over three months.In a start-up like setting, participants will work in small, multidisciplinary teams with specialists provided by Sanoma to allow fast decision-making and adaptations of the idea. The programme culminates in December with a boot camp in Amsterdam, where the top five ideas will be made into working prototypes.Applications for the 2014 Sanoma Learning Lab are due on 24 August 2014. The programme begins in September and runs through December.
