Sanoma Corporation, News Release, 13 December 2013

Sanoma is unpleasantly surprised by today’s interview with TV-producer John de Mol in Dutch financial newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad and regrets this. Sanoma does not recognise itself in the view that comes across at all.

In the interest of SBS and out of respect to the employees of SBS, Sanoma will not discuss its partners or discussions between shareholders in the media. At the same time it’s important to correct the two biggest errors from the interview: 1) Sanoma has a clear view about the future of media and has announced on 31 October a clear strategy that we are now implementing. Sanoma invests in the transformation strategy for its leading cross media position in the Netherlands and Finland, makes clear choices and invests in the development. SBS has a key role in this. 2) The financial position of Sanoma is stable, as can be judged from the company’s third quarter result. Sanoma remains more committed than ever to increase the success of SBS.
