Last week, Sanoma successfully headed a 9-member business delegation to China and Korea with the intent to meet with potential learning partners in these geographies. The visit to Asia supports Sanoma’s strategy to enter the emerging markets.

The business delegation, headed by Mr Jyri Ahti, Chief Strategy Officer at Sanoma Learning, was part of the delegation of the Finnish Minister of Education and Science, Mrs Krista Kiuru, consisting of major government officials and representatives of strong learning companies in Finland.

In Shanghai the delegation met with Vice Minister Yubo Du and in South Korea with the Minister of Education, Seo Nam-Soo. Minister Kiuru shared thoughts about the Finnish schooling system and the Finnish learning companies showcased their expertise, especially in the field of digitalised learning methods.

A key takeaway from this business delegation is that there are great opportunities for the Sino-Finnish collaboration in the field of education, and lots of business opportunities for the Finnish learning companies.

Mr Jyri Ahti: “The trade mission enabled us to make valuable initial introductions into the Chinese and Korean learning industry."
