Press release, 4 October 2012

In autumn 2013, the Sanoma House will become an even stronger showcase for Sanoma's multi-channel media spectrum as Nelonen Media moves in from their current facilities in Tehtaankatu. Content for the printed media, radio, television and digital channels will be created in the Sanoma House.

Nelonen Media's move into the Sanoma House supports Sanoma's aim to enable closer cooperation between units and to create new multi-channel media solutions. The building will be a major media hub: Nelonen's newsroom will move in and become part of the Helsingin Sanomat editorial office in December 2012, and other functions of Nelonen Media, including five radio channels, will follow in autumn 2013. Studios for the radio channels will be built into the ground floor of the building to let the public watch radio broadcasting in progress.

”The new facility solutions will be accompanied by the development of a new way of working to increase flexibility and to support team and project work. It is vital that our staff have a functional and inspiring working environment that supports our multi-channel operations,” says Hans Edin, the President of Nelonen Media.

”The relocation significantly increases our potential for developing new multi-channel media products together with Nelonen Media," says Pekka Soini, CEO of Sanoma News.

With the move of Nelonen Media, Sanoma focuses its operations to fewer locations and achieves cost savings. Sanoma Magazines Finland is also seeking new facilities, as their current lease will end in 2015.

The Sanoma House, completed in 1999, is a part of the Töölönlahti culture district together with the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, the Helsinki Music Centre and the Helsinki Central Railway Station. The nine-floor glass building designed by professor Jan Söderlund and architect Antti-Matti Siikala has an open and light atmosphere. At the moment, the building is home to Sanoma News, which includes the editorial offices of Helsingin Sanomat, Ilta-Sanomat and Taloussanomat as well as digital operations and other similar functions. The ground and first floor of the Sanoma House mostly comprise covered indoor facilities open to the public, including the Kulma shop for Sanoma products.
