Helsingin Sanomat, the leading subscribed newspaper in Finland, has renewed its online service and introduced an open paywall. Readers can access the main page and read five articles per week for free. Articles shared through social media are also free of charge.  Unlimited access is available through a monthly subscription.Helsingin Sanomat Senior Editor-in-Chief Mikael Pentikäinen says that readers have reacted positively to the launch of the paywall and renewed site.”We have received encouraging and positive feedback. HS readers understand that good journalism comes with a price, and it's fair that online readers also contribute.”Helsingin Sanomat is currently in the middle of a renewal process in all channels focusing on world class journalism and the best reading experience in all channels including digital. The renewed online service will have more in-depth content From now on, the online edition will provide more in depth articles  with substantial background information and deeper news analysis  as well as contents that supplement the daily paper, such as video contents, online visuals and direct news monitoring. This will also benefit the subscribers of the daily paper .There are two online subscription options: HS Online subscription service for EUR 9.90 per month including unlimited access to all articles from the last seven days. Access to all digital contents can be obtained through a premium online subscription  for EUR 14.90 per month. The premium subscription  also includes all digital editions of the print paper and supplements, the archives and the iPad app. Current digital and combo subscribers will automatically receive the premium service. Those only subscribing to the paper edition of HS get the premium service  for and additional EUR 3 – EUR 7.5 per month, depending on their type of subscription.Helsingin Sanomat reaches 1.9 million Finns through different channels every week.
