Press Release 20/10/2011  17:15 (CET +1)

SBS shareholders Sanoma and Talpa have appointed Georgette Schlick as CEO of SBS Broadcasting B.V. as of 24 October 2011. She succeeds Eric van Stade who leaves SBS because of a difference of opinion as to how the company should move forward. Georgette Schlick is the first female CEO of a Dutch broadcasting company. The SBS management consists, apart from Georgette Schlick, of CFO André Kreuzen, Chief Commercial Officer Peter Vertregt and Director Television Leo van der Goot.

Sharpening the strategic course for SBS Netherlands

Sanoma and Talpa have spent the past few months defining the steps that need to be taken to give SBS Netherlands a new direction. This required amongst others a new CEO and Georgette Schlick is seen as the ideal candidate to bring SBS to the next level of success.

"Sanoma and Talpa are happy to get Georgette Schlick as part of our team. We unanimously agreed that Georgette should be the one to lead SBS. She is friendly and decisive at the same time. Exactly what we need at SBS to conquer the challenges that the company faces now and in the years to come to increase its market share" comments Dick Molman, CEO Sanoma Media Netherlands.

"The challenges that lie ahead to improve the SBS market share are not easy. At the same time we know that SBS has immense potential. I hope and think that, together with my new colleagues, I will able to live up to the ambitions of the new shareholders and that SBS will strengthen its market position with an improved strategic focus on the future," Georgette Schlick says.

Georgette Schlick (40) studied Dutch law at the University of Utrecht and followed an MBA programme at INSEAD. She worked as a legal advisor at various Dutch media companies and occupied a number of management positions. She was, for instance, one of the founders of legal and financial posting company Brunel Legal and a board member of listed multinational Brunel. In the last three years, Georgette Schlick was CEO of DutchView, a facility multimedia company. At the companies where she worked she successfully managed various change processes.
