Salla Vainio, 37, M.Sc. (Econ) has been appointed Managing Director of WSOY Educational Corporation as of September 4, 2006. Currently Vainio is Vice President, media sales, in Ilta-Sanomat, Inc., which is the second-biggest newspaper of Sanoma Corporation, a division of SanomaWSOY Group.

– I have always found learning and studying very inspiring and important. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with Finland's and Europe's leading experts in educational publishing, says Vainio.

Prior to joining Ilta-Sanomat in 2003, Vainio had been working for McKinsey & Company and Sonera in various development and management assignments in Finland and abroad.

In her new position Vainio reports to Jacques Eijkens, the CEO of SanomaWSOY Education B.V.
