Nelonen succeeded excellently in the competition, where previous years’ best television news shooters were awarded. Nelonen got both the first and the second award.
The best award of television news shooting in 2002 was given to Nelonen’s Miika Salminen of Lipposen vappu (the prime minister’s 1. May) story. The second award was given to freelance photographer Esa Siltaloppi of Firevision news shooting.
The television news shooting of the year was organized for the fourth time. The aim of the competition is to increase the appreciation of news footage and quality, and to demonstrate the important role of the footage in today’s communication.
