Finland's largest cable television operator Helsinki Television (HTV) has selected Motorola as a key technology supplier for the development of HTV's broadband Internet services.
As a key supplier, Motorola will provide HTV with its BSR 64000 CMTS/router, its SURFboard® SB4100E EuroDOCSIS cable modem, and the IP Commander(tm) high-performance, DHCP/DNS/TFTP suite from Incognito Software, Inc. Motorola's technology, as well as its ongoing installation and training support, will allow HTV to create a state-of-the-art EuroDOCSIS data transmission network for their 222,000 Helsinki customers.
"With Motorola's technology and ongoing support, we'll be able to build a EuroDOCSIS network that cost-effectively delivers a wide range of voice, and data services, along with video," said Kari Ruopsa, technical director of HTV. "The BSR 64000 provides the traffic visibility and control we need to deliver multiple services over our broadband network, while the SB4100E provides the Internet Protocol filtering functions we need to progress towards VoIP service. Plus, IP Commander will enable us to expand our network to accommodate future services."
