Helsinki Television (HTV), Finland's largest cable television company, and KPNQwest, the leading pan-European data communications and hosting company, have reached an agreement according to which KPNQwest will provide Helsinki Television with a high capacity IP Transit link with in-built redundancy. The IP link will provide a macro-capacity connection for Helsinki Television to support the firm's range of broadband Internet services.

The multi-million Euro three-year agreement will provide an extremely high bandwidth connection which will be fully redundant, using fibre-optic cables to ensure that HTV's customers benefit from entirely reliable and better quality international and national web connections.

"Having established our leadership in our area this service now enhances our competitive position still further," said Markku Tuomola, Managing Director of Helsinki Television. "High speed, reliable Internet connectivity will help drive our range of services out to the fast-growing HTV customer base, and in KPNQwest we believe we have found a supplier who will match our aggressive ambitions in the Internet field."
