Helsinki Pride Week kicked off on Monday 23 June, and to mark it, a new Progress Pride flag will be flying on the roof of Sanoma House. After many years of flying the flag, the old traditional rainbow flags had already fallen apart, and the updated one aims to make visible the minorities within the minorities covered by the rainbow flag. A similar updated rainbow flag is also used by the City of Helsinki, for example.

"By flying the flag, we want to show our support for equality and human rights. It is important to us that everyone can be themselves at work," says Hanna Johde, Director of Communications and Employee experience at Sanoma Media Finland.

Taking into account the experiences of minority groups is one of the goals of Sanoma's diversity efforts, and we ask about this topic annually in our Employee Engagement Survey (EES). In 2024, Sanoma continued to receive a strong score on Equal opportunities. This demonstrates that Sanoma’s employees perceive fairness in topics concerning career development, opportunities and inclusivity. Sanoma is committed to DE&I initiatives and a culture that supports all employees, regardless of background.

Promoting an inclusive culture is part of Sanoma's sustainability strategy. Sanoma's Diversity and Inclusion policy defines our goals for an equal and inclusive workplace, including fair treatment, equal opportunities, non-discrimination, equal pay and a gender-neutral experience. Sanoma has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination, harassment or bullying in the workplace.
