Printing of Savon Sanomat to be shifted to Savon Paino in Varkaus

Sanoma News and Keskisuomalainen Plc have signed a multi-year printing agreement for the printing of Savon Sanomat.

The printing of Savon Sanomat will be shifted to Savon Paino, a Sanomapaino printing plant in Varkaus, in the early part of 2014.

“This significant agreement guarantees that Savon Sanomat will continue to be printed in the Savo area and the operating conditions of Savon Paino will remain strong,” says Ismo Vuoksio, the president of Sanomapaino.

The recent sector restructuring in the printing business in Finland has centralised printing agreements to big players.

“I hope the decision published today will boost the planning of cooperative efforts in our industry. The production costs of traditional media can only be lowered by doing things in a new way. It’s important for the success of the whole newspaper industry that all cooperation models are examined with an open mind. In this development Sanoma News has been an active player, and we are naturally very happy with the decision made by Keskisuomalainen Plc,” says Pekka Soini, CEO of Sanoma News.

“As the market leader in newspaper printing, we have invested heavily in developing our operations by certifying the operative systems of all our printing plants for quality (ISO 9001), environmental aspects (ISO 14001) and occupational safety (OHSAS 18001). By focusing on reliable and high-quality service, we strive to achieve optimal customer satisfaction, and as the leading company in the industry, we continue to be an interesting partner in future arrangements that relate to printing business,” Ismo Vuoksio continues.
