WSOY has concluded the statutory employer-employee negotiations. The negotiations affected the whole personnel and led to termination of 18 employments, 11 persons will be pensioned and three persons' duties will be part time in the future. In addition, WSOY has developed its processes by transferring its picture and page-making operations to Aste Kirjat Oy as of 1 June 2010.

"We want to secure our future in the ongoing transformation of the book industry. The starting point is to reach a solid economical basis to ensure our future growth and development for advantage of authors and literature," says Managing Director Anna Baijars.

In the future WSOY will employ about 110 persons. The company aims to publish over 300 new titles and about 100 paper backs, voice books or e-books. WSOY publishes domestic and foreign fiction, children and youth books and non-fiction. Publishing unit, Jonny Kniga publishes fiction and non-fiction as part of WSOY.
