Sanoma Parent Company HQ has joined WWF's Green Office scheme. WWF examined Sanoma Parent Company premises at Ludviginkatu, Helsinki, as well as actions and plans concerning the premises, and confirmed that the Green Office criteria were fulfilled.

"This was a good start for Green Office actions", says Pentti Katainen, Vice President Real Estate at Sanoma. "The Ludviginkatu premises act as a pilot, after which Green Office actions may be extended to other premises."

Premises involved in the Green Office scheme are committed to reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. In Sanoma Parent Company's case, particularly valid indicators were estimated to be, e.g. reducing office paper consumption and the amount of non-recyclable waste, intensifying recycling efforts and saving energy. These indicators are monitored annually to encourage continuous improvement.

Green Office environmental scheme, developed by the WWF, aims at reducing carbon dioxide emissions and ecological footprint of office environment. In Finland, the Green Office network consists of 173 companies or communities, some 120 of which have the right to use the Green Office logo (22.4.2010). At the moment Green Office scheme is active in 12 countries in Europe and Asia.
