Finnish daily newspaper Kaleva and online marketplace Oikotie.fi have made an agreement on co-operation as of February. Oikotie.fi co-operates now with nine Finnish dailies.

"Oikotie.fi aims at strengthening its national position. The main market area of Kaleva, the district of the City of Oulu, is one of the biggest economic areas in Finland. Kaleva's entry into Oikotie is a great asset to the service and enables an effective expansion to the Provinces of Oulu and Lapland," says Jarkko Kyttänen, Vice President, Sanoma Digital Marketplaces

Oikotie.fi will be fully renewed during the spring 2009. "In the future, Oikotie will focus on its original categories: cars, housing and jobs. Our aim is to make the new Oikotie a market leading service both in content and in the amount of visitors. Kaleva is the leading media house in Northern Finland and has a significant role in this process," Jarkko Kyttänen says.

Oikotie.fi was created a decade ago when the national daily newspaper Helsingin Sanomat started publishing job, housing and car classifieds on its web site in addition to the print paper. Regional newspapers Turun Sanomat, Etelä-Suomen Sanomat, Etelä-Saimaa, Hämeen Sanomat, Kouvolan Sanomat and Kymen Sanomat joined the service right at the beginning. Kaleva will launch the renewed Oikotie in its media during the spring.

Oikotie.fi is an online marketplace for housing, cars and jobs. It has approximately 350,000 unique visitors each week. Oikotie.fi is a part of Sanoma News, a division of the Sanoma Group.
