Nelonen’s programs celebrated in the Venla 2002 gala (Finnish tv-award) on 11 January. In the gala the best domestic tv-programs of 2002 were awarded. Nelonen’s programs wan 6 awards of 11.

The best drama series: Tummien vesien tulkit (Tuotanto Oy Säihky)
The best director: Mikko Mattila/Tummien vesien tulkit
The best script: Kari Hotakainen/Tummien vesien tulkit
The best actor: Ville Virtanen/Kylmäverisesti sinun
The best music program: Hassisen kone - 20 vuotta myöhemmin (Provisual Oy)
The best comedy series: Isänmaan toivot (Moskito Television Oy)
The award of the best tv-movie got Turon baari, an episode of MTV3’s Vapaa pudotus series. The best actress was Tiina Pirhonen from Vapaa pudotus and the best performer was Peter Nyman from TV1’s Uutisvuoto. TV1’s Itse valtiaat series won both the best entertainment program Venla and audience Venla award. Simo Salminen got the special Venla.
