Ilta-Sanomat's Senior Editor-in-Chief Vesa-Pekka Koljonen will retire on 1 May 2003 in accordance with the terms of his employment contract. The Board of Directors of Sanoma Corporation has appointed Antti-Pekka Pietilä (48), currently Senior Editor-in-Chief of the Group's financial newspaper, Taloussanomat, as his successor. Pietilä will assume the duties of deputy to Ilta-Sanomat's Senior Editor-in-Chief on 1 January 2003 and start in his new responsibilities as Senior Editor-in-Chief on 1 May 2003.
The question of Pietilä's successors will be decided during October 2002.
Pietilä has been working in media since 1983 and joined Sanoma first as Managing Editor of Ilta-Sanomat in 1989. Since 1997 Pietilä has been Senior Editor-in-Chief of News Agency Startel and Taloussanomat. Ilta-Sanomat is Finland's leading tabloid.
