The majority of Sanoma’s employees work in offices and more and more attention has been given to the energy and water use and recycling methods at office premises. Green electricity is used at some locations and Sanoma’s Parent Company is part of the WWF Green Office Network, an initiative which aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and the ecological footprint of offices. As a Green Office, Sanoma’s Parent Company monitors its office paper consumption, amounts of mixed waste, and energy consumption and is committed to reducing them. The success of this pilot has created interest in joining the programme. Sanoma House, the headquarters of Sanoma News, will join the WWF Green Office Network in 2012.
