The Sanoma Group pays constant attention to environmental issues and aims to promote its personnel's understanding of the environmental impacts of the Group's operations. Environmental issues form a part of the principles of business conduct confirmed by Sanoma's Board of Directors.
Sanoma's operation is primarily based on editorial work performed in an office setting. For the Group, particularly important environmental issues are ensuring a minimum of negative environmental impact in respect to printing plants (use of paper and other printing-related materials) and achieving high levels of efficiency in logistics and recycling.
In June 2010, Sanomapaino received certification of its quality management system (ISO 9001), environmental management system (ISO 14001), and occupational health & safety management system (OHSAS 18001). The certification comprises all five printing houses as well as Sanomapaino's sales, administration, and materials service.
