A headmaster’s job is challenging. Running a school successfully presupposes several qualities and skills from the headmaster. Some of them can be taught, but many are innate, personal attributes. In addition to the main job, namely running the school and making the tough decisions, headmasters are bombarded with mundane routine tasks. These small but frequent tasks take too much of a headmasters’ time.
January 20th, Malmberg organized the third National Congress for Biology teachers. The event took place in Burgers ' Zoo in Arnhem. It has been a very successful day: 450 biology teachers from secondary education have been inspired by different speakers.

Esmerk is introducing a new consumer report that focuses on the Russian market. The quarterly report is a compilation of consumer-related news and phenomena presented in the Russian media. The topics include consumer attitudes, use of time, wellbeing, food, living, work, money, trade, the media, technology, and trends, among other things.
Malmberg has launched three new methods for primary education. In addition to the successful methods Naut, Meander and Brandaan, a new series is introduced: Argus Clou geography, Argus Clou history and Argus Clou science and technique. With both these series, Malmberg will conquer the market for these subjects even further!
Humboldt is the new geography method for the first classes of secondary education. The package is compact and can be used either completely digital or in combination with books. The method will be on the market this school year and as of August 2013, schools can start to use it.

31st October-2nd November, Sweden’s two biggest fairs for teachers took place in Stockholm and Gothenburg. 18,000 professionals visited the events to attend seminars and to see the exhibitions.
According to the official figures, The Frankfurt Book Fair 2011, held from October 12 to 16, recorded a slight increase in the number of visitors, with about one per cent more people coming to Frankfurt in 2011 than in 2010.
At the Frankfurt Book Fair on 12 October 2011, the best learning material in Europe was recognised. The primary school category was won by the Czech environmental education material PRVOUKA2, while WSOYpro's Yippee series (English instruction) received the silver medal, and third place went to A Grande Aventura (maths) from Portugal.

Last month, the new school year started in Holland. Malmberg’s research shows that teachers are excited to get started again (62%). They especially look forward to the teaching itself. Over 75% of the teachers look forward to seeing their fellow teachers again after the summer holidays and to meeting new students.
